Bernard "Bernie" Samac

BERNARD THOMAS “BERNIE” SAMAC, age 78, beloved husband of the late Renee (nee LaFrance); loving father of Tracy Dougherty (husband Mike); Erik (wife Jennifer); devoted grandfather of Nikolena, Niko and Max; cherished son of the late Steve Samac and Mary (nee Karpacs); dearest brother of Steve (wife Carol deceased), Val (wife Bonnie), Cathy Meyers (husband Gary), Sharon Marconi (Mike) and the late Caroline Samac; dear uncle and great-uncle of many. 

Bernie enjoyed a longtime career as a building commissioner spanning 35 years, serving multiple cities, including Mayfield Heights and Mayfield Village. In his free time, he loved to cook, play golf, and work in his yard. A devoted grandfather who proudly supported his grandchildren at every sporting event and was always their biggest fan.

He was an easy-going, friendly person who was always willing to help others and will be remembered as a man who was dedicated to his friends and family.

Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10AM at the funeral home. Family will receive friends to pay their respects from 10-12, followed by a celebration of life at DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91).
