Christopher Blaney

CHRISTOPHER JAY "CHRIS" BLANEY age 61, of Lakewood, Ohio, passed away on September 1, 2026 following a lengthy illness. He was 61. Born January 2, 1965, in Oil City, Pennsylvania, Chris grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Solon, Ohio, and was a graduate of Solon High School. Chris started out as a Steelers fan, then switched to the Browns but his passion was for rugby. He played and coached both men's and women's rugby. He also enjoyed bicycling and cooking. Chris was preceded in death by his parents, James H. Blaney and Charlotte Blaney; his brother, James R. Blaney; and his sister-in-law, Marjorie Blaney. He is survived by his sisters, Kim Radford (Pat) and Kathy Welch (David); nephews Dylan Blaney (Alyssa) Sam Radford, Tom Radford and Peter Welch (Megan); niece Elaine Fletcher (Phillip); and great nieces Cece Fletcher and Ella Blaney. He will be remembered by his family and friends and will be missed by those who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
