Donald E. Liebenauer passed away on June 10, 2026 at the age of 87. Don was the son of (late) Henry and Ida (Morrelli) Liebenauer, born on July 11, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio. He lived in Chesterland, Ohio for 49 years, Notre Dame Village in Chardon for 3 years, and had recently moved to Jennings Assisted Living in Garfield Heights. He was a longtime member of St. Anselm Parish. He was a devoted husband, son, nephew, an amazing father, grandpa, uncle, and a true friend to so many. He was dearly loved and treasured, and will be missed by all.
He is survived by Joanne, his beloved wife of 64 years; his three children, Mark (Julie) Liebenauer of Mentor, Laura (Kris) Schott of Pittsburgh, and Donna Liebenauer of Cleveland; and four grandchildren, Matthew Liebenauer, Natalie (Stephen) Joyce, and Benjamin and Lydia Schott; and many dear nieces and nephews in Ohio, California, Kentucky, and elsewhere. He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul (Margretta) Liebenauer.
Don worked for decades in the manufacturing and tool and die business, including Miami Manufacturing, HPL, Inc. In 1991, he started his own company in New Jersey, Don-J Inc. and ran it for 10 years. Don attended John Adams High School in Cleveland. Beginning in 1960, he was a 6-year member of the 122nd Band of the Army National Guard of Ohio and played at many parades and occasions.
In lieu of flowers, please have a Mass said in her honor at a Catholic Church of your choice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00PM on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 12969 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, OH 44026. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Don at THE DEJOHN FUNERAL HOME and CELEBRATIONS CENTER, 12811 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, OH 44026 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM on Monday, June 15, 2026.
