Listen to Obituary

Donald "Don" Sabol, 76, Of Mayfield Village, Ohio, passed away on August 29, 2026. He was born on October 25, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio. Don was a devoted Catholic and proudly served his country in the U S. Army. Don had a lifelong career at Lubrizol, working in their shipping department. He was known throughout his life for being incredibly hard-working, grateful, and content — never one to complain, always finding the good. When asked to describe himself, Don would simply say, “I’m a happy guy.” What gave Don the most enjoyment in life was people. He never met a stranger; and he loved nothing more than talking with people, making them laugh, and showing genuine care for everyone he met. He was an amazing storyteller and an even better listener — the most patient, kind, genuine, and down-to-earth human you could meet. Don lit up every room he walked into, and his calming presence made him the favorite among all his grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart. Don was married to the love of his life, Celeste, for nearly 18 years. They were blessed to find each other later in life, and Don always said their love story should be a Hallmark movie. Together they traveled and spent their winters on Anna Maria Island, where they enjoyed walks on the beach, games of frisbee, long bike rides, pickleball, and playing cards with friends. In keeping with his selfless nature, Don chose to be an organ donor.

Don had a deep love for golf, spending countless hours on the course — his greatest achievement was scoring a hole-in-one. He also found real joy in restoring old cars, a passion that led him to collect automobile memorabilia over the years.

Don is survived by his wife, Celeste (née Bishilany, formerly Drehs); his children, Shannon (David Schwartz) and Steven (Kristy); his step-children, Melissa Drehs and Todd (Lauren) Drehs; his brothers, Michael (Susan) and twin brother Dennis (Laura) Sabol; his grandchildren, Vivian and Reed Baker, Sydney and Stella Sabol, Dawson and Genevieve Roper, and William and Harrison Drehs; in-laws William and Denise Bishilany, Nayann and Tim Pazyniak, Bruce and Michelle Bishilany; and many nieces nephews, and cousins. He was prceded in death by his father, Michael Sabol and his mother, Rita Sabol.
