Frank Edward Gilmore, age 87, of Lyndhurst, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 26 2026 at his residence surrounded by his loving family, Frank was born June 29, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, the oldest son of late Edward and Ruth (Schwertner) Gilmore. In addition to his parents Frank was preceded in death by one brother, Richard "Zeke" (Dianne). Frank is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Jo "Joey" (Gedeon) Gilmore, one son, John (Teri) Gilmore of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and one daughter, Joanne (Lee) Mejia of South Euclid, Ohio. Frank has one grandson, Matthew Mejia, who he was very close to and who will sadly miss him. Frank has one sister, Pat (Tim) Kearney and many nieces and nephews Frank graduated with a master's degree from Cleveland State University and then spent his entire business career of 42 years with Republic Steel and successor companies LTV Steel in Cleveland as a Purchasing Agent. Growing up in Cleveland, Frank was an avid Indians and Browns fan. He loved golfing in leagues and even had more pleasure in golfing on Sundays with his family and close friends. Frank had many friends and believed that to have friends you had to be a good friend. Frank was an active member of Gesu Church in University Heights for over 80 years and always volunteered for tasks needing his experience and support. He also volunteered at the Seidman Cancer Center and for the children at Rainbow Hospital and delivered bread to Food Banks. Donations In Frank's memory can be made to Frank's favorite charities: Gesu Church (www.churchoftheGesu.org); Children International (www.Children.org); or to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital (www.stiude.org). Please meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at Gesu Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Interment Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Frank at The DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of South Euclid, 4600 Mayfield Rd. (just East of Green Rd.on Thursday, September 3, from 3-7 PM.
