GARY R. BAUR age 84, beloved husband for 61 years of Alma I. (nee Syracuse); loving father of Gary L. (wife Renee), Brian S., and Mark R.; devoted grandfather of Sydney Grimm (husband Kyle), Erin, Selena, and Angelo, and great-grandfather of Leighanne and Haze; cherished son of the late Katherine M. (nee O'Loughlin) and Leo E. Baur; dearest brother of Timothy (wife Eileen) and the late Richard (wife Lee Ann); dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend of many.
Gary was born on September 18, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, where he later graduated from Collinwood High School.
He found a community in Good Guys (antique cars) and Kirtland Senior Center where he became a beloved member of both. He had a long and respected career as an operating engineer and was the former owner of Baur Sohio Services in Euclid, Ohio. He went on to work many years for SS Construction retiring as Vice President. Gary was also a long-time member of Local 18 union. Outside of work, Gary found joy in car shows - mainly antiques, listening to 50s music, spending time with family any chance he got, and going on adventures. He especially loved visiting local wineries with friends.
Gary was known as "The go-to man" by everyone who knew him. He often had a phone number of any person you asked him about, yet rarely had his phone with him! He found immense joy in being able to help in any way he could. He was the light in many people's lives, always brought humor and smiles, and will be deeply missed by many.
Contributions may be made in memory of Gary to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
