Janet Cobb

JANET L. COBB (née Sabol) age 91, beloved wife of the late Dorman (Bill); loving mother of Lynn Ischay, Karen Shaw (Bill), Ty (Anna), and Jay (Lauren) Cobb; devoted grandmother of Danielle Bloom (Johnny), Robert Shaw, Jeanette Gorham (Brian), Kayleigh Dominish (Alex), Vanessa Jacobs (Neal), Ty Cobb, Jr. (Emilie), and Jaclyn Cobb (Erik); great-grandmother of Ryah Bloom, Cohen Gorham, Layla and Baby Boy Jacobs whose arrival is expected in February; dearest sister of Ann Marie Pedroni (Bob); dear aunt and great-aunt of many. In addition to her late husband Bill, Janet was preceded in death by her parents George and Francis (née Cook) Sabol.

Janet was born in Cleveland on May 28, 1935 and graduated from East High School. She was a devoted wife, adoring mother and cherished family member. She was a life-long Lake County resident, having lived in Eastlake for most of her adult life.

Following the untimely passing of her husband at age 49, she finished raising her four children on her own, the youngest being just 8 years old at the time. She was strong because she had to be, and she certainly rose to the occasion with her opinionated and sassy nature that she sprinkled with her wonderful sense of humor. She was a general manager at Beachland Cleaners in Willowick for over 25 years and had a dedicated customer base who wouldn't drop off their clothes unless Janet was there.

She loved to read, bird watch, and followed all the Cleveland sports teams with the Cavs being her absolute favorite team. She was a fan of Johnny Mathis and Elvis and even once met Elvis backstage in Cleveland, turning on her charm to get past security along with her girlfriend.

She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a fierce devotion and made sure they always felt that special love on their individual birthdays.

Her family will remember saving the folded potato chips for her, having coffee every morning with her daughter and being a Guardian Angel to anyone who was getting on a plane. She would call them before they took off, telling them she was praying for their safe arrival.

Janet leaves behind a legacy of strength, love and never-ending devotion to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Janet at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) MONDAY, October 5, 2026 at 5-6:30 PM with Words of Remembrance and Prayers of Christian Burial beginning at 6:30PM. Feel free to dress in Cleveland sports gear, especially Cavs gear. Burial TUESDAY 11AM at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Janet to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
