.JOHN C. TUREK “POPS” age 87, beloved husband of the late Darlene B. (nee Haas); loving father of Martin and the late Joanne Turek-Malitz; devoted grandfather of Ryan, Matthew, Blake, Victoria, Noah, Heather and Hailey; cherished son of the late Frank and Josephine (nee Arko) Turek; dearest brother of the late Marie Kromar (husband John, deceased) and Frank (wife Joan); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

John was born on May 2, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1957 and went on to attend Cleveland State University.

A man deeply committed to his community, John believed strongly in giving back and dedicated much of his time to organizations that were important to him. He was a member and board member of St. Vitus KSKJ Lodge #25, AMLA Martha Washington, and St. Vitus Post 1655 Catholic War Veterans (CWV).

John enjoyed a long and respected career as a corrections officer with the Euclid Police Department. Outside of work, he found great joy in traveling, especially camping adventures. He also enjoyed classic cars, cruising, and listening to polka music.

Above all else, John was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. His family and faith were the center of his life, and he cherished the time spent with those he loved. John’s legacy of kindness, service, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of John to St. Vitus Endowment Fund.

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at St. Vitus Catholic Church, 6019 Lausche Avenue, Cleveland at 11 AM. Private burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of John at ZEVNIK-COSIC FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) Monday 4 – 8 PM.
