Judith Cooey

JUDITH COOEY (nee Steils) age 80, beloved wife of the late Bruce; loving mother of Kathleen Cooey (Pierre Sledge) and Kristin Wilson (Raynor); devoted grandmother of Rain and Kaya; cherished daughter of Frank and Josephine Steils (nee Leister); dearest sister of Richard and the late John (Kay) and Jeanne (Larry) Cantwell.

Judith was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 15, 1946. She and Bruce raised two daughters, Kathleen and Kristin. She relished her role as a mother and grandmother. Her favorite religious event was attending Midnight Mass at St. Ann’s with her family, including David (Ivetta) Fitzwater who became like a son. She was also eternally grateful to reunite with her son Frank (Suzanne) Lester.

She was a creative person and liked to express herself at the Council Garden Writers Group. She also loved to play the game Rummikub with her friends every week and to challenge herself watching Jeopardy.

Judith will be remembered as a compassionate, generous, non-judgmental person with a loving and giving nature. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Mass will take place Saturday, Sept 5th, 2026 at Communion of Saints Parish at St. Ann’s Church, 2175 Coventry Rd. Cleveland, Hts, 44118 at 10:30AM.
