Julianne Arlene Matsko, age 65; died unexpectedly and peacefully at her home September 3, 2026; cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Patricia (nee Blase) Matsko; loving sister of Tina Hilliard (Edgar), Theresa Giallanza, Andrea Miralia, and Joe Matsko (Sue Giamo); devoted aunt of Leigh Perrino, Jamie Husby (deceased), Simone Luciano (deceased), Nikki Giallanza, Dominic Giallanza, Samantha Miralia, and great-aunt of 8; beloved companion for 25 years of Robin.
Julianne was born in Cleveland on September 29, 1960. She was a high-energy, witty, and generous person who was deeply passionate about her beliefs and unconditionally devoted to her family and friends. A longtime Newbury resident, she graduated from West Geauga High School before earning a master's degree in library science from Kent State University. Julianne dedicated over two decades of her career as a librarian to the Cuyahoga County Public Library System, primarily in Mayfield Heights, and was looking forward to her upcoming retirement at the end of September.
Her vibrant personality was matched by a wide range of passions. An adventurous traveler, she spent 12 years living in Germany after graduating college and just last year, toured the volcanos of Italy and the ancient ruins of Pompeii. At home, she found equal joy outdoors gardening or hiking; or indoors reading with a cat by her side, enjoying the sunset from her balcony, or hosting tea parties with the little ones. Julianne had a wide range of musical tastes ranging from the classical masterpieces of Bach to the iconic rock of The Doors and Pink Floyd.
Generous to her core, she brought warmth, humor and life to every room she entered. Her memory is a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
Contributions may be made in memory of Julie to Rescue Village, an animal shelter in Novelty, OH. To honor her memory, a Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
