LORETTA J. SASINOUSKI (nee Zelinsky) age 79, beloved wife for 57 years of John; loving mother of John Jr, DO (Kelly Rouse, DO), Vicki Spehar (husband Michael); devoted grandmother of Sarah Blea (husband Taylor), Samantha and Savannah Sasinouski, Matthew and Michal Joy "MJ" Rouse, Nathan and Arden Spehar; cherished daughter of the late Albert and Irene (nee Seman) Zelinsky.
Loretta passed away in the early morning hours at Reserve Care Hospice Center in Euclid, Ohio, on October 15th.
Loretta was born in Struthers, Ohio, on October 7, 1947, and was a proud graduate of Struthers High School. Together with her beloved husband, John, she built a life centered around family, raising their two children.
Loretta dedicated 35 years to the Youngstown City School District, serving in administrative roles at various elementary and high schools as well as the downtown Board of Education. She was also a dedicated advocate for her fellow employees, holding an officer position with AFSCME Local 1143 for 20 years. Her decades of service reflected her commitment to her work, her colleagues, and her community.
Above all, Loretta was a devoted mother and grandmother. She never missed an opportunity to support her children, John and Vicki, attending their sporting events and becoming actively involved in booster clubs, fundraisers, banquets, and just about anything that allowed her to be part of their lives. She was always present, always involved, and always cheering them on. As a grandmother, she was known as "Retta," never Grandma-a name that suited her independent spirit and one-of-a-kind personality. And one thing was certain: she never wanted to be called "ma'am!"
Loretta preferred being on the go rather than sitting at home "wasting time." She enjoyed supporting the people she loved in any way possible. She loved line dancing, shopping, and finding a great bargain. A good sale was hard to resist, and she had a knack for finding a deal, a skill she passed diligently to her children and grandchildren. She loved making people laugh with her silly jokes and stories, even if she could never quite remember the punchline. She also had a special way of making occasions memorable, writing a poem for every birthday card or special event and gifting loved one's scratch-off lottery tickets. These little traditions were uniquely Loretta and will be treasured by her family for years to come. Holidays and family celebrations will never be quite the same without her, and she will be missed terribly by all who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Loretta to the Concord Township Fire Department, Concord Township, OH 44077.
