Michael Sahlani, age 101, beloved husband of the late Mouhiba; loving father of Janet (husband Kamal Sahlani, MD), Najah (husband Michel Sahlani), Gloria Richa (husband Abdo), Naji (wife Elizabeth), and Nouhad Zoghaib (husband Rachid); devoted grandfather of Laura Dietzel (husband Dan), Lydia Sahlani, MD (husband Evan Sarosi), Lisa Sahlani, Sabine, Tina, Anthony and Peter Richa, Layal Abu Sleiman (husband Serge), Charbel and Alain Sahlani, Imad, Fuad and Jed Zoghaib, and Michael and Angelina Sahlani; great-grandfather of Margo and Dan; cherished son of the late Tanios and Messadeh (nee Roukoz) Sahlani; dearest brother of Milia Abdnour of Lebanon, the late Wadih Selwan, Chafic Sahlani, Emeline Ina, Amin, Maroun and Naim Sahlani, Nahil and Mary Roukoz, dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Michael came to the United States in 1991 and built a life centered on family, hard work, and friendship. A talented chef and cook, he spent many years serving others through his work at Joe's Deli and Manhattan Deli. Michael found joy in life's simple pleasures, playing cards with family and friends, cheering on the Cleveland Browns, especially his favorite player, Bernie Kosar, and watching basketball, specifically, Michael Jordan.
Known for his warm smile, welcoming spirit, and wonderful sense of humor, Michael loved telling jokes and bringing people together. He was friendly, social, hardworking, and hospitable, making everyone feel at home in his presence. Above all else, he was devoted to his family and friends, who were the center of his life and the source of his greatest pride and happiness. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Michael to St. Maron Church.
Mass of Christian Burial Friday, June 12, 2026, at St. Maron Church 1245 Carnegie Avenue Cleveland, OH 44115, at 10 AM. Burial following at Knollwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Michael at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) THURSDAY 4-8 PM.
