NANCY JOICEY (nee Chiofilo), age 104, beloved wife of the late William; loving mother of Pamela Sarli (Joseph), Diane Greene (Michael), Mary Johnston (Donald Fabec), and the late Debra Joicey; devoted grandmother of Brooke Chambers, Kendelyn Rohn (Michael), Brian Sarli, Tara Amor (Nathan), Danielle Greene, Christopher Sivillo (Danyelle), and Gregory Johnston (Marissa) and great-grandmother of Jade, Aubrey, Peyton, Stella, Camden, Chloe, Carter, Kendyl, Vincent, Samuel, and Caden; cherished daughter of Orazio and Theresa (nee Dottore) Chiofilo; dearest sister of Helen Linder (Herman, deceased), and predeceased by seven siblings; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.
Nancy was born on April 21, 1922, in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Collinwood High School and entered the workforce as an office administrator. She married William Joicey May 1, 1948, and moved to a Chicago suburb. Eventually William, Nancy and children moved back to Cleveland and South Euclid. Nancy was a previous parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and a member of the Red Hat Society. She had a long-lasting friendship with all her high school friends. They established a club that they each took turns hosting. Nancy was an avid reader, reading many books each month. She frequently kept in touch with family and friends on Facebook. She found great pleasure in family get togethers. Nancy enjoyed sitting on her daughter’s deck and porch, enjoying nature. She enjoyed traveling and spending the winters in Florida. In her earlier years she frequently went ballroom dancing. Nancy was a wonderful storyteller with a great sense of humor. If Nancy was told a secret, it stayed a secret. She was a determined person. She was known for her strength, care, compassion, and generosity. Nancy was the true matriarch of the family. She was beloved by family and friends and leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Visitation for family and friends to commemorate and to pay tribute to Nancy’s life at DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) TUESDAY, May 12th, 2026 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 1545 S. Green Rd, South Euclid, OH 44121, at 10 AM. Burial following at Lake View Cemetery.
