Raul Rivas-Plata

Raul Rivas-Plata age 91, beloved husband for 60 years of Marilyn (née McGinley); loving father of Raul (wife Rachel), Colleen (husband Ronald) Sharpless, and Kimberly (husband Matthew) Ballard; devoted grandfather of Alana Sharpless, Vincent Ballard, Camille Rivas-Plata, and Hazel Ballard; cherished son of the late Onofre and Yolanda (née Magliola); dearest brother of Minnie Kargiotis (husband Evan) and Ricardo Rivas Plata (wife Nira). He was preceded in death by brothers Humberto, Clark, Hugo, and sister Isabella.

Raul was born in Chepan, Peru and came to the United States in 1952 before eventually settling in the Cleveland area. Together, he and Marilyn raised their three children in South Euclid, where they resided for more than fifty years. They were longtime parishioners of St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church, having been married in O'Brien Hall in 1966. He had a career as a draftsman and spent his free time gardening, collecting coins, enjoying Cleveland sports, and watching old westerns on television. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and especially enjoyed the holidays with his family. He will be remembered as loving, kind, and easygoing.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Paschal Baylon Church, 5384 Wilson Mills Road, Highland Heights, Ohio 44143 on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

 A lunch will follow in the Eymard Room of the attached parish school.
