Robert Arthur Heald, 93, passed from the loving arms of his family into the arms of the Lord at his home in Hambden on June 3, 2026.
Bob joined the army after graduating from Bloomfield High School. He went to Officers Training School and left the army after the Korean war with a rank of Second Lieutenant. During his high school and army years he was a catcher on various baseball teams. He earned a bachelor's degree from Kent State University and a master's degree from John Caroll University. He was a teacher, an elementary principal and later had his own construction company. At heart he was always a teacher and we all learned so much from him. When he wasn't working, he loved camping, riding bikes and motorcycles, and flying ultralights. Most of all he liked doing things with his family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, daughter Kathy and grandson Ken. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret; sons Joe (Terri) Heald, David (Diane) Heald, Nick (Dawn) Skidmore, and David Skidmore; daughter, Rebecca (Bernie) Freeman; grandchildren Crystal (Anthony), Lea (Jan), Serra, Gina (Corey), Desiree (Robert), Kaylee (TJ), Breanne (Matthew), Shaylynn (Steven), Branson (Samantha); great grandchildren, Christopher (Kelsey), Sofia, Rori, Brad, Riley, Sadie, Everly, Harlie, Luca, and Dash; great great granddaughter, Amelia; and faithful fur baby Mandy.
The family plans a celebration of life later this summer.
We will miss the man we knew as grandpa, dad, pop, poppa, and old guy. We are comforted he is no longer suffering and are wondering what adventures he is getting into now!
