ROBERTA RAE BUCHS (nee Ports) age 93, beloved wife for 71 years of Robert Buchs; loving mother of Kristen Buchs and Tracy Shell (husband Scott); devoted grandmother of Zachary, Cody (wife Alexa) and Matthew Shell and great-grandmother of Wesley Ewan Shell; cherished daughter of the late Allen and Nell (nee Spencer) Ports; dearest sister of Stephen Ports and the late Richard Ports and Catherine Buchanan (husband John deceased); dear sister-in-law of the late Marcene Buchs.
Bobbie was born in Mansfield on April 28, 1933. She graduated from Alliance High School in 1951 and Mt. Union in 1955 where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. When she graduated, she was an elementary school teacher in Parma before she and Robert moved to Detroit. He served in the US Navy while she continued teaching. She was an intelligent and giving educator who made all her students feel special. They moved to Cleveland in 1969 and Bobbie took great joy in being involved with the PTA, eventually becoming the President of the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Council of Parent-Teacher Associations. She was elected to two terms with the South Euclid-Lyndhurst School Board and President of the Board her last three years of service.
In the early 80's, she went to work as a secretary at Church of the Savior in Cleveland Heights. She became an administrative assistant and served the church for 18 years. It truly was a calling, and she loved her work there.
Bobbie retired and spent the last 10 ½ years at Ohio Living Breckenridge Village.
She was an excellent cook and even won a chili cook off. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, babysitting and playing with them. Her smile lit up a room, and she loved to make people laugh with her sense of humor.
Bobbie leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family and faith and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Celebration of Life Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Church of the Savior Catholic Church at 10AM. Burial at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit, Ohio at 2PM. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Roberta Rae at THE CHURCH THURSDAY, AUGUST 13 9-10AM.
