Samuel DeBlase

SAMUEL T. DeBLASE, age 85, beloved husband for 60 years of Dolores "Dolly" (nee Farah); loving father of Patrick and Paul; devoted grandfather of Katherine; cherished son of the late Joseph and Rita (nee Cuccina) DeBlase; dearest brother of Jean Windish and the late Vincent; loving brother-in-law of Josette Farah and the late Eddie and Joseph Farah; dear uncle, great-uncle, and friend of many. U.S. Army Veteran.

Sam was born on April 21, 1941, in Baltimore, Maryland. His life was defined by family, friendship, leadership, and service. A graduate of Loyola High School, Class of 1959, he continued his education at Loyola University in Maryland, earning his undergraduate degree, and went on to receive his master's degree in English Literature from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. It was at John Carroll that Sam met and fell in love with the love of his life, Dolly. They were married on July 2, 1966, and were inseparable thereafter.

Sam built a successful career as an executive with Allstate Insurance Company, beginning at the ground level and rising to lead the company's entire western region as Vice President. He was respected for his leadership, professionalism, and dedication. He also proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Army.

Committed to helping others, Sam volunteered with the Executive Service Corps and mentored many young people through the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America program, sharing his time, guidance, and experience generously. His desire to serve extended well beyond his professional and military accomplishments; it was evident in the way he lived each day.

Sam enjoyed many pursuits, among them golf, tennis, traveling, and reading. He was a devoted sports fan who especially loved following baseball, from growing up in the 1950s to the present. He passed on his love of the game and other sports to his sons. He always said, "you have to pay the price to be better." In sports and in life. Coaching and attending youth sports events with his time and encouragement were always part of the family experience. Love of travel and books and reading were shared and passed down.

Family was at the center of Sam's life. He was the social catalyst at every gathering, drawing people together with his engaging personality and remarkable gift for storytelling. Known for his intelligence, honesty, and caring nature, Sam had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued.

Above all, Sam will be remembered as a loving family man, a loyal friend, and a compassionate mentor whose warmth, wisdom, and laughter touched countless lives. His memory will be cherished by all who knew, understood, and loved him.
