Sandra Jeanette Figler

SANDRA JEANETTE FIGLER (nee Sopp), age 83, of Lyndhurst, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on April 16, 1943, Sandra was the beloved daughter of Stephen and Helen Sopp (Wisniewski), who preceded her in death. She was also the dearest sister of Arlene (John-deceased) Alt.

Sandra was the beloved mother of Bernice (Michael) Helmick, Edward (Jennifer) Figler, Stephen (Heather) Figler, Richard (Mary) Figler, Aaron (Jeanette) Figler, and Jonathan (Renee) Figler. She took great pride in the family she helped build and was a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother to more than twenty-eight. She was also a loving Aunt, cousin, and dear friend to many.

Sandra devoted many years of her life to raising and caring for her children. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Penny Pincher Foods, a secretary at Forest City, and a receptionist alongside her son Stephen.

Sandra found joy in life's simple pleasures: a good book, time with her book club, nice restaurants, playing cards, a glass of wine, a strong cup of coffee, a good hat, her dog Bella and the company of the people she loved. Few things brought her greater happiness than having her entire family gathered under one roof for the holidays. She especially loved the ocean. Many family vacations were spent at the beach, where she found peace in the blue sky and the sound of the rolling waves.

Some of Sandra's happiest memories were made while traveling with her best friend and sister, Arlene. She was more than a sister; she was Sandra's rock, her steady support, and her constant companion. After Sandra's double lung transplant in 2010, Arlene helped her begin a new chapter of life and remained lovingly by her side for nearly sixteen remarkable years and through her final moments. Because of Arlene's love, support, and companionship, Sandra was able to enjoy many more precious years. The two were truly inseparable.

Those who knew Sandra knew just how strong she was. She was a fighter in every sense of the word, meeting life with determination, courage, and a spirit that would not be defined by hardship. Even through difficult and trying times, she endured, persevered, and kept finding her way forward. Her strength was not only seen in what she overcame, but in the love, humor, and heart she continued to share along the way. It is one of the many qualities her family will forever remember, admire, and cherish.

More than anything, Sandra loved her family. The life she built, the children she raised, and the generations that followed were her greatest pride and joy. She created memories, traditions, laughter, and love that will continue to live on in the family she treasured so deeply.

Sandra will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 37940 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, on Monday September 21st at 11am. A celebration of her life will immediately follow at Manakiki Golf Course, 35501 Eddy Rd., Willoughby.
