Sherrill D. Moore

Sep 22, 1939 — Nov 3, 2026

Listen to Obituary

(née Nowjak), age 87

Beloved wife of Roger for 68 years; loving mother of Marcia Will (husband Tracy), Jeffrey (wife Marilyn), Susanne Leasure (husband Paul), and Janice Collier (husband Todd); devoted grandmother of Matthew (wife Jessica), Michael (Maddie), Alexis Leasure, Michael Leasure, Taylor David (husband Samson), and Ashton Leasure; and proud great-grandmother of Hayley and Ravenna Leasure. Cherished daughter of the late Robert and Pearl (née Enges) Nowjak; dear sister of Nancy Voigt (husband Rudy, deceased); and sister-in-law of David Moore (wife Maureen), Patricia Dutchman (husband Bill), and the late Dianne Schienke (husband Richard) and the late Sherilyn Patti (husband Bill). Sherrill was also a beloved aunt, great-aunt, and treasured friend to many.

Born in Cleveland on September 22, 1939, Sherrill was a proud graduate of Mayfield High School, Class of 1957. She and her husband, Roger, shared 68 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, love, and friendship. Together, they raised four children, and Sherrill took great pride and joy in being a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and volunteer Bible teacher as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Sherrill had a love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed horseback riding, hiking, and camping. Her many interests also included making jewelry, gardening, videography, and traveling. Whether exploring destinations throughout the world or enjoying one of her many cruises, she embraced opportunities to experience new places and create lasting memories. She also found pleasure and relaxation in music, reading, cooking and entertaining, and playing board games, especially UpWords.

Above all, Sherrill was known for her warmth, generosity, and genuine love of people. She never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and at ease. Friendly, outgoing, and accepting, she had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for bringing laughter and joy to those around her. She would notice a small need, a little item someone could really use, and bring the gift along on the next visit. Those small personal acts of kindness, cards sent 'just because' and millions of ways she thought of others, made Sherrill close to everyone's heart. Her kindness, hospitality, and giving nature touched countless lives and made her a cherished presence among family and friends.

Sherrill's greatest legacy is the love she shared so freely with her family and the meaningful friendships she nurtured throughout her life. She will be remembered for her generous heart, welcoming spirit, infectious humor, and the special way she made others feel valued and loved. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created, the laughter she inspired, and the love she gave will remain forever in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
